The Senior Plant Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of a large-scale FMCG manufacturing facility. This role carries full responsibility for manufacturing operations, including production, engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, supply chain coordination, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety), cost management, capital projects, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Description

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Lead all plant operations, ensuring achievement of business, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Develop and execute site strategy aligned with regional and global manufacturing goals.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure delivery of production plans while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Lead site transformation and productivity improvement initiatives.



Health, Safety & Environment

  • Champion a zero-harm culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Promote proactive safety behaviours and continuous risk reduction.
  • Lead investigations, corrective actions, and long-term improvements to strengthen site safety performance.



Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all products meet internal quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain robust food safety and quality management systems.
  • Drive a culture where quality is embedded throughout all manufacturing processes.



Financial & Business Performance

  • Own the plant's operating budget, cost performance, and productivity agenda.
  • Deliver annual savings and efficiency targets while maintaining service, quality, and safety standards.
  • Manage capital investment projects and support future capacity expansion plans.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators across the operation.



People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse leadership team across manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, and support functions.
  • Build strong succession plans and talent pipelines.
  • Drive employee engagement, capability development, and organisational effectiveness.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.



Engineering & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee engineering, maintenance, reliability, and asset management activities.
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support the adoption of digital manufacturing and automation technologies.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Significant manufacturing leadership experience within FMCG, Food & Beverage, Consumer Goods, or a comparable high-volume production environment.
  • Proven experience leading large manufacturing sites with full operational accountability.
  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, TPM, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in driving productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost improvements.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budget and cost management responsibility.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders across regional and global functions.
  • Experience leading organisational transformation, change management, and culture development initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Resilient, results-driven, and capable of making sound decisions in a complex and fast-moving environment.
