Job Description

  • Act as a trusted legal partner to business leaders across manufacturing and retail operations in Asia.
  • Provide practical legal advice on commercial, corporate, employment, compliance, and operational matters.
  • Identify legal risks and recommend commercially sound solutions to support business objectives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including procurement, supply, service, and leasing contracts.
  • Advise on retail-related legal matters, including store operations, landlord negotiations, and consumer regulations.
  • Support marketing, promotional, and advertising activities to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to facilitate business initiatives and projects.
  • Lead and support strategic projects involving legal risk assessment and governance requirements.
  • Manage external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions and ensure cost-effective legal support.
  • Assist with corporate governance activities, including board documentation, resolutions, and statutory compliance.
  • Partner with compliance teams to implement policies, training programmes, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting business operations across the region.
  • Support dispute management and employment-related legal matters when required.
  • Promote a strong culture of integrity, ethics, and regulatory compliance throughout the organisation.
  • Leverage legal technology and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and consistency in legal processes.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Legal Counsel should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law and qualified to practise law.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally combining private practice and in-house legal exposure.
  • Strong expertise in corporate, commercial, and employment law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters independently and provide commercially focused advice.
  • Excellent English communication skills with strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
