Job Description

  • Lead and oversee the litigation, enforcement, and legal advisory functions for the organisation.
  • Manage and develop a team of legal professionals, providing guidance on complex legal matters and case strategies.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and commercial issues affecting banking operations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate credit facility agreements, security documents, and other legal contracts.
  • Provide legal support for new products, business initiatives, and strategic projects.
  • Review legal claims, court submissions, and related litigation documentation.
  • Manage dispute resolution processes, settlement negotiations, and enforcement proceedings.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations and represent the organisation in key transactions.
  • Oversee the management of signing authorities, powers of attorney, and corporate authorisations.
  • Supervise corporate registrations and filings with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the banking industry.
  • Develop and update legal templates, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a legal representative in cross-functional and group-level projects.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to mitigate legal risks and support business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful VP - Litigation should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law or a related legal discipline.
  • Extensive experience in litigation, enforcement, and legal advisory work within banking, financial services, or a reputable law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products, including retail and corporate banking solutions.
  • Proven experience leading legal teams and managing complex dispute-resolution matters.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with strong written and spoken English proficiency.
