Job Description

  • Define and execute the organisation's overall legal strategy in alignment with business goals
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to the board, executive committee, and senior stakeholders
  • Ensure full compliance with insurance regulations, corporate governance, and applicable laws
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, agreements, and internal policies
  • Oversee the quality and consistency of all legal documentation across the organisation
  • Manage complex legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations
  • Coordinate and manage external legal counsel and specialist advisors
  • Engage with regulators, industry bodies, and legal authorities as required
  • Represent the organisation in regulatory, legal, and governance‑related forums
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing in‑house legal team
  • Embed strong legal governance and ethical standards across the business

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Director should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.); Master's Degree in Law (LL.M.) is an advantage
  • Minimum 10 years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role
  • Strong background in insurance law, financial services, or similarly regulated industries
  • Proven expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
